The article focuses on the inconsistencies between the professional requirements for the training of interpreters and translators and the current foreign languages teaching practices, which fail to adequately train specialists in professional communicative activities. The article postulates that the major teaching principle of a successful career is the development of translators and interpreters' communicativ skills. However, the methodology and the basic principles of achieving this goal have not been elaborated yet.
